THE FIRST FREEDOM

HOLIDAY CHALLENGE

Bringing Back Expressions
of Faith to the Public Square

Restoring Our Most Cherished History and Traditions
In Communities Across America

Now Communities Can

Thanks to our Kennedy v. Bremerton School District decision at the Supreme Court in 2022, local, state and federal governments can once again freely install historical public displays that have long been enjoyed by Americans.

From longstanding holiday traditions of nativity scenes and menorahs, to In God We Trust signs and crosses honoring our fallen veterans, join our #FaithBlazer community and let’s bring history and tradition back to the public square!

Through November and December, you can become a #FaithBlazer by working with local officials in cities and towns across the nation to install nativity scenes and menorahs on public lands for the enjoyment of all. We’d love to hear from you, so please take a moment to take the #FaithBlazer Challenge.

Here’s How You Can Restore Faith Where You Live:

Throughout December, we’re challenging people of faith from coast-to-coast to post pictures on their social media of Nativity Scenes and Menorahs that are publicly displayed.

And when you post, be sure to tag First Liberty by using the hashtags:
#FirstFreedomChallenge, #RestoringFaithInAmerica and #FirstLiberty

Here’s how YOU can restore faith where you live:

  • You can ask your city to put up a menorah for Hanukkah and a nativity scene for Christmas.
  • You can encourage your local school district and other government buildings to display “In God We Trust” posters.
  • You can install veteran’s memorials with religious imagery.
  • You can ask your school board to open the meetings with a prayer.
  • Athletes can pray together before and after football games – and even ask coaches to join.
  • Your student can lead a prayer club at school.
  • You can bring your Bible to school.

Create Your Plan

All Americans have an opportunity to restore faith in America. However, different restoration methods and initiatives for historical displays, such as Ten Commandments displays, and various faith building activities will have greater success in different communities.

We strongly encourage that you contact us via email at RFIA@firstliberty.org for guidance in creating your plan and implementing ideas to restore faith in your community.

RIGHTING PAST WRONGS
ACROSS OUR NATION

Rescuing Our Freedom of Religion
From Suppression

MORE RELIGIOUS FREEDOM THAN EVER BEFORE

From the military, to our children’s schools, houses of worship, charities, businesses and the marketplace, our local veterans’ memorials and our neighborhoods, Americans have more religious freedom than they’ve had in 50 years. How is this possible? It’s thanks to three historic and precedent-setting triumphs at the nation’s highest court:
Restoring Faith in America

The Comeback Coach

The U.S. Supreme Court issued a landmark 6-3 decision in favor of Coach Joe Kennedy, who was fired for praying on the 50-yard line. It upheld his right to take a knee in quiet, solitary prayer after games and has a nationwide impact on public-school teachers, employees and coaches.

Treat Children Fairly

The Supreme Court ruled 6-3 in favor of students’ rights in Carson v. Makin. It affirmed that states cannot discriminate in student-aid programs against parents who want to send their children to religious schools. This case gives American’s more control over how they educate their children and live out their faith.
Bladensburg Peace Cross | First Liberty

The Bladensburg Peace Cross

In a landmark 7-2 victory, the Supreme Court upheld the constitutionality of the Bladensburg Peace Cross, preventing its destruction. No longer can offended observers force governments to scrub all public references to the divine.

Putting Religious Displays Back Where They Belong

Religious freedom is thriving—and nowhere is this clearer than in the opportunity for the restoration and rebuilding of monuments, memorials and religious displays that were once taken down.

A School Year with More Religious Freedom than Ever Before

After two major victories at the U.S. Supreme Court this summer, Americans in our nations’ schools have more freedom than they’ve have had in a half century.

Major Wins at the Supreme Court Suggest the Tide for Religious Expression is Turning

A majority of Americans (54%) believe religious liberty is on the decline, according to a recent Lifeway Research poll. Similarly, the Freedom Forum found 56% say religious freedom is being threatened in America.
